Car extinguisher is a very necessary part of your car kit and it cannot be ignored at any point of time. It is very essential for your safety as well for the safety of your greatest asset. Car extinguisher is a little gem which is absolutely inexpensive and can be very important at times, without which your car kit is incomplete. These car extinguishers can tackle the interior and under bonnet fires with ease that can be caused by liquids or by any electrical equipment. Car fire extinguishers have created a boom in the automobile industry as the number of cases of car fires have been increased in number. Water should never be used on an engine fire as it can short out wiring and spread burning petrol with disastrous effects. If the fire is in the engine compartment, do not but aim the extinguisher through the radiator grille or under the edge of the bonnet. Use car extinguishers very cautiously and if in doubt, don't attempt to tackle the fire.
Car extinguisher is made up of several components and the most visible of all is the carbon fiber pressure vessel and the main body of the extinguisher. Inside this vessel there is a bladder or a balloon that is there to hold the extinguishing material. The extinguishing agent consists of a liquid chemical which is stored under pressure and emerges as a gas as and when the system is activated. There are two ways in which the car extinguishing systems are used. The system can be fires internally as there is a button on one of the switch panels having its own battery. Alternatively it can also be done externally that is achieved via a small handle which is attached to the main power box of the car via a cable, which is also attached to the extinguisher firing mechanism. As the car extinguisher if fired 95% of its contents is discharged at a steady pressure. These fire extinguishers have their defined life and are deemed to be no longer fir for use after a period of two years. These days car extinguisher comes in-built and are ready to use in case of an emergency. Each new car has a custom-designed installation and the bottle design also varies according to the model types. To give an idea of size, the bottle is cylindrical and measures 150mm in diameter and 250mm in length.
