Fire Spray

Fire spray is a fire retardant product which is used to extinguish or control fire. It is a substance that prevents combustion. These fire sprays when sprayed on burning objects a chemical reaction is initiated that stops the fire. They play a vital role in fire fighting. These fire sprays can be used both outside as well inside the homes and in not only homes but they are also useful in offices and buildings. Its surfactants allow it to penetrate and become part of the structure when sprayed. The materials that need to be saved are either dipped or sprayed by these fire retardant products with low pressure equipment. It can be used on framing, decorative woods, fabrics, wallpaper and other celluloid products. It can be used for interior applications such as carpets, furniture, draperies, and wall coverings etc. On the other hand the outdoor fire spray is sprayed directly onto the surface of the roof. Not only does it provide fire retardant capabilities, but it is also water repellent.

These fire sprays in general reduce the flammability of materials by either blocking the fire physically or by initiating a chemical reaction that stops the fire. They work on two methods that are: physical action and by chemical action. Each of these methods is again further divided into couple of processes. The combustion process can be stopped by the physical action by cooling. As some fire sprays have certain chemicals involved in it that actually cools down the burning material when they are sprayed on it. Some chemicals are such that they form a protective layer thereby protecting the remaining material. Another process which is involved in physical means is by dilutions as some fire spray release water or carbon dioxide while burning.

The chemical processes involved in fire sprays have their own characteristics in extinguishing the fires. Chemical reactions in a flame can be interrupted by these fire sprays. However, there are situations where the released gas might be more dangerous when this type of retardant is involved. The reaction in solid phase usually works by breaking down the plastics polymer so it melts and flows away from the flame. There are also solid phase fire sprays which cause a layer of carbon char to form on the polymer surface.

These sprays have very different chemistry and they work on the logic as the fire retardants spray reduce the flammability of materials by either one of the two ways: blocking the fire physically and the other is by initiating a chemical reaction that stops the fire. These sprays are user friendly and come with earth friendly liquid coating. They are non-allergic, odorless, and are non toxic and are easy to use and simple to apply. Since it becomes part of the substrate, the life of the flame retardant spray is indefinite as long as the fabrics are not washed, however they can be dry cleaned up to 20 times.
